Keira Daley – LadyNerd (Best Of Sydney Fringe)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Striking a blow for female nerds everywhere, Keira Daley’s songs celebrate intelligent women from the past, and make ‘LadyNerd’ both amusing and informative; I came away knowing a little more than before about inspirational women such as Marie Curie and Ada Lovelace. The singing and piano accompaniment is great, yet sadly a few of the jokes don’t manage to hit home, some of them obscured by the singing and others simply too lengthy and confusing, meaning that the show ends up resembling a forced blend between comedy and a history lesson. In conclusion, the concept didn’t always work, but when it did, it was fascinating; Daley is a very enthusiastic performer, and has created an enjoyable show for those up for easy laughs.

Assembly George Square, 2-27 Aug (not 13), 5.20pm.
