Fagends And Families (Simon Egerton)
By Alexandra Wilks | Published on Tuesday 21 August 2012
A free cocktail on entry is always a good way to start a show, and Simon Egerton doesn’t disappoint in other ways, either. Musically very talented, he begins the show softly tinkling away on his electric piano, and soon proves that he is a master at the balance between wit and pathos. He tells his captivated audience tales from his childhood, some funny, some heartbreaking and it’s all beautifully told. He mixes spoken word with song, and when he sings, the room lights up. His voice is relaxing, yet urgent, the lyrics amusing and also incredibly honest. Egerton’s performance is generous, giving and unguarded, it will take you back to those poignant moments in your own childhood. A lovely way to start or end your evening.
