Woof! A Werepunk (Blusclint, Paolo Faroni, Max Canepa, Emanuele Crotti)

By | Published on Tuesday 30 August 2011

A strange beast, this show is excellently produced with good music, excellent lighting, and good use of the stage. At its core, however, is a messy script and a struggling solo performer. Full of noise and bluster, the little story that exists is extremely difficult to follow due to minimal exposition and rushed line-delivery. This is disheartening, considering the intensely cool atmosphere constructed by the opening scene; a dark stage with a single dot of red, the end of a lit cigarette, a spotlight brings a figure into relief but his eyes are in shade. It’s all very cinematic but squandered on this poor script. I’d like to see something more from this company, but with tighter writing.

Zoo, 5 – 29 Aug, 7.05pm (7.55pm), £6.50 – £7.50, fpp312.
