Creditors (Aztikeria Teatro)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

As a great believer of the “blink and you’ll miss it” maxim, I think I must have blinked more than usual during ‘Creditors’. The premise was signposted clearly enough: wife leaves husband for another man; husband takes revenge; tragic consequences ensue. It was the sections between the signposts – where clarity was naturally required to understand whatever intricacies the production had – which were hazy. The thick Russian accents of the two obviously talented young actresses resulted in some unclear, quietly delivered lines, proving to be a slightly unfortunate communication barrier that was hardly ‘amendable’, so to speak. They nevertheless produced many tremendously natural mannerisms in their respective roles; make sure not to blink on those occasions.
