Bluebird (Squint)
By Poppy Rowley | Published on Sunday 28 August 2011
Set in a single night and following taxi driver Jimmy, this ingenious production introduces some of the night-walkers he encounters and the stories they tell. The set beautifully captures the essence of the mini-cab, with crisp packets and cola bottles stuffed down the back of seats. Moreover, superb acting and direction mean that characters elegantly dance on and off stage with just the right busy feel of the city night. The quick and witty script, smooth lighting, clever set and professional acting makes it seem such a shame that this is only on for the last week of the festival. They completely sold out the first night, I say run, run to get your tickets! Take a taxi if you must!
Bedlam Theatre, 22 – 27 Aug, 9.00pm (10.30pm), £7.00 – £8.00, fpp245.
