Physical Chekov homage wins FringeReview Prize
By Chris Cooke | Published on Wednesday 10 August 2011
FringeReview has presented its first Outstanding Theatre Award for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe. The reviews website presents just three such prizes each Fringe, and shows must score a five star review from the publication before being considered for the accolade. Additional FringeReview reviewers will then see shortlisted shows before any winner is identified. Said winners are presented with a special FringeReview award in the shape of a teapot. In that it is a teapot.
The first winner of a FringeReview prize this year is ‘Anton’s Uncles’, a physical theatre piece presented by Theatre Movement Bazaar at the Bedlam Theatre. FringeReview’s judges praised this “homage to Chekhov for successfully combining physical theatre, dialogue, dance and music in a thrilling and masterly way”.
‘Anton’s Uncles’ runs until 27 Aug at the Bedlam each day at 2pm.
