Fringe performers to stage flash-mob snogfest

Snog Fest

Following a week of unrest in various cities south of the border, the company behind sketch show ‘Cab Fare For The Common Man’ at theSpace are organising a secret – so don’t tell anyone – flashmob-style event on the Royal Mile on Friday afternoon with the aim of doing something much more positive.

Called, erm, Snog The Mile, there’ll be no rioting here thank you very much, rather Fringe performers and audience members are encouraged to bring their partners, or any other willing friends, for a kiss and a cuddle on the Mile. Organisers reckon that those unable to find a snog partner should come along anyway, because they might be able to fix you up with a fellow lonesome Fringe-goer.

Says the Snog The Mile Facebook Group: “Let’s promote Edinburgh, and the Festival, in a positive light by coming together for a big fat snog! Lets build and form new communities instead of trashing and shitting all over them!”

The snogfest is due to take place at 6.30pm on Friday 12 Aug outside the Fringe box office. Follow on Twitter at twitter.com/snogthemile2011
