You’re Being Lied To – 2011 / PBH’s Free Fringe (David Mulholland)
By Kirsty MacSween | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
David Mulholland reveals the barefaced lies told by the tabloid press, and the vested interests behind them in this show, making you think twice about how you look at the headlines. Before embarking on a stand-up career, David Mulholland was a journalist covering NASA and the EU among many other things and it’s clear he really knows what he’s talking about. The show is fascinating as he explains the findings of his own research into the budget deficit, EU laws and immigration, but elicits more wry snickers than deep laughter, and his angry presenting style also sometimes makes you feel you’re being shouted at. Overall, it’s a deeply interesting show, but it could stand to be funnier.
