Tom Allen’s Afternoon Tea (RBM / Gilded Balloon)
By Lynsey Martenstyn | Published on Tuesday 16 August 2011
Tom Allen is hosting afternoon tea with three comedians. The comedians have a chance to showcase their material; the audience gets a taste of the cream of Festival’s offerings and Tom gets a lot of cake. The diverse, star-studded line-up this afternoon included Ed Byrne, Bruce Devlin and Lynn Ruth Miller. Gutsy Lynn, at 78, is the oldest performer at the Fringe. She refers to herself as a ‘sabre-tooth tiger’ (as cougars are under 70), claiming coffee keeps her awake. Undoubtedly, the show-stealer was Cosmo, Ed’s baby, who made his stage debut this afternoon. This show is a great introduction to the Festival, offering a delectable selection of comedians that are guaranteed to whet your Festival appetite.
Gilded Balloon Teviot, Aug 10 – 28 (not 22), 3.15pm (4.15pm), £8.00 – £10.00, fpp160.
