Henning Wehn No Surrender (IMWP & Henning Wehn)

By | Published on Saturday 27 August 2011

The German comedian follows up last year’s tongue-in-cheek title ‘My Struggle’ with another set that plays heavily on the national stereotypes of the British and Germans, as he dissects the phenomenon of German beer festivals in Scotland, the economics of the Fringe and the differences performing as a German between an Australian and a British audience. However, luckily not all his set hinges on stereotyped cultural differences which would get tiring and his set encompasses some other things, including some swipes at the Free Fringe, drawing some good-natured boos. Sometimes, although mostly funny, his ironic stage persona goes too far with the jokes about concentration camps, but overall Henning Wehn’s show is well-judged and often hilarious.
