Barry Fox – Poems, Pamphlets, Props And Pissing About (Barry Fox)
By Michael Mackenzie | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
“Rhyming Phrases, Pieces Of Cardboard, PowerPoint, And An Unfunny Show” would have made a more appropriate title. Barry Fox’s comedic method is to juxtapose the most random words or subjects he can think of – he may as well have opened the dictionary at random pages. He also dwells far too long on toilet humour, which the audience clearly do not enjoy – I have certainly never sat so straight-faced through a comedy show. Although I did chuckle at a couple of puns and genuinely laughed at the final clip of him on ITV, this glimmer of humour was perhaps more to ITV’s credit than Fox’s. Overall, it was poorly written, painfully uninteresting, and contained too many jokes about excrement.
Laughing Horse at The Newsroom, 13 – 20 Aug, 4.00pm (5.00pm), free, fpp43.
