The Sundaes Present Divalicious Decades (The Sundaes)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

Tacky, glitzy, and flamboyant, The Sundaes are “larger than life” as an all singing and dancing “guilty pleasure”. Although the singing was a bit nasal for me, some renditions were impressive – particularly an ‘All By Myself’, ‘My Heart Will Go On’ medley. The Sundaes bring out all the hits, passing through the decades with playful interludes. But, as the girls’ massive wigs slowly sag under the lights, the comedy similarly begins to flag as similar gags crop up time and again. The laughs mainly come from audience banter; cheeky winks and bubbly giggles, a few too many tussles over the limelight and, sadly, easy fat jokes. Still, it’s a silly and sparkling treat if that’s your vice.
